I'll still be a time traveler Monday, May 2, 2005 @ 7:58pm
In honor of MIT's time traveler convention I need to recount the following memory: When I was 14 I wrote a Word document to my future self to go back and time and deposit $500 into my savings account at a date a few days beyond the day I wrote the doc. I wrote my bank information and the account number and I remember telling my future self that it was very important to deposit this money without saying why, and thinking to my child self that I could get so much cool stuff with $500. After the 'drop-date' came and went without a miraculous deposit I deleted the file so that I could still believe in time travel. Without a note, it's small wonder the funds never arrived. It's funny to think that my memory of the letter probably has a much longer half-life than the file would have, sitting on its 400K floppy. |
